Top Safety Patrol Students Take Trips
Malorie, Tayvia, Haley, and Brianna were recently recognized as our top safety patrols for the year.  Malorie had the opportunity to visit our nation's capitol city as a result of her achievement, while the other three girls will attend a Brewer's baseball game at Miller Park next week.  Safety patrols are fifth grade students who help monitor the hallways and playground during lunch and recess transition, particularly helping younger students be safe during their playtime activities.  The four girls selected as this year's top patrols were recognized for going above and beyond, taking their duties seriously and being polite when needing to remind their peers of school expectations.  All safety patrols who finish the year having meet patrol expectations get to spend a day at the indoor water park at the Cedar Creek Lodge in Rothschild, which usually becomes a big highlight of the fifth grade experience.  Safety patrol is an optional leadership activity, however, all fifth graders from this year's class are currently involved.  It appears that all patrols are currently on track for attending this exciting event.

Save the Dates and Join Us
We want to invite families to several fun events to close the year, all of which are listed on the calendars when you scroll down the page.  Our living wax museum presentation will wrap up the Civil War research that students have been working hard on over the last couple weeks.  We really want families to come and check out our work, with that presentation being moved from its original date of Thursday, May 17th to a new date of Friday, May 18th, with the 2:00 to 3:00 presentation time remaining the same (notice this is same day as the PTO-sponsored school carnival, which is optional for families later that evening after school hours).  We also will participate in two track and field events, both of which families can attend.  The first track event is our school event on Monday, May 14th from 12:30 to 3:00.  The other is the Jay Seiler track and field event, which features all fifth grade classes around the district.  This big track event takes place at Stiehm Stadium at the junior high on Friday, May 25th, from 9:30 to 1:30.  We hope to see you there for some of these exciting events.

Scrap Paper Wanted
Ever print from your computer only to find a spelling mistake and have to reprint?  Ever get junk mail that you crumple up and toss away?  Our class wants your standard letter size scrap paper, as long as the backside is blank for students to write on and the paper is not crumpled up or torn. We use scrap paper on a regular basis for activities such as creating a spelling list, which then gets tossed within a week, so using scraps helps promote environmental responsibility.  Before you send your scraps, please note that students will be able to view what's printed on the front, so don't send us bank account summaries or other private documents.  As always, we appreciate your continued support.
